The assessment of products and systems participating to the competition, will take into consideration the following parameters. It is not necessary to satisfy them all. (Parameters are not listed in order of importance).
For all categories:- Minimization of resources and materials both in the production and in the utilization stage;
- Reduction of the produced waste (both in quantity and dangerousness) in the entire lifecycle of the product;
- Reduction of climate-altering gasses (in the productive and utilization cycle);
- Use of renewable resources as: geothermal, hydrothermal, marine, solar and wind energy, agro-energy, thermal valorisation, etc
- Use of recycled and/or recyclable materials;
- Extension of duration of the product (through the possibility of reusing spear parts for machinery and tools, while in the case of tractors intended as permanence on the surface);
- Easy disassembling;
- Use of local resources and reduction of transportation for the supply;
- Reduction and optimization of the packaging for the distribution;
- Obtainment of one or more voluntary certifications (ISO 14000, EMAS); use of environmental labels or certified declarations (Eu-Ecolabel, EPD); carrying out of energy-saving initiatives and/or reduction/compensation of green house-gasses; use of communication instruments (social, environmental or sustainability balance);
- Providing data for the assessment of the proposed product (every parameter expressed as an indication of improvement must be indicated in percentage compared to another product with the same function and of the same company);
for the category “machinery”:- Consumption (litres of fuel, kw of energy) in time units;
- Reduction of nosiness in accordance with 2000/14/EC guidelines;
for the category “chemical products”:- The concentration levels of active ingredients and respective dilutions and dosage systems.
*in case of materials subject to mechanical stress the non-use of recycled material will not be considered a parameter for the assessment.
N.B. The declaration of compliance with each parameter above listed, must be accompanied by scientific demonstrations of lab tests and by the reports referring to these actions within a process from which it is possible to infer in an objective way the obtained improvements.
